Title: The Notebook
Fandom: Dangan Ronpa

Character(s): Pretty much everyone, with a focus on Kiyotaka Ishimaru and Mondo Oowada
Pairing(s): Kiyotaka Ishimaru/Mondo Oowada
Rating: PG-13 for language
Word Count: 1,373
Summary: The students of Hope's Peak attempt to play matchmaker for Ishimaru and Mondo.
Author's Notes: Written for the Dangan Ronpa kink meme! No spoilers, just an AU where all the characters are normal high school students.

It all started with a simple black notebook.

Rumor has it that it was Celes' to begin with, but there are conflicting accounts saying that it belonged to Fukawa or Asahina. Either way, it belonged to one of the girls. That notebook was the epitome of high school teenage gossip, and at least half the class knew it existed.

Challenge: Get Ishimaru-kun and Oowada-kun to hook up.

That was all it took to get the gossip machine rolling.

There were conflicting accounts about who wrote the initial challenge as well, but regardless of who wrote it, the class seemed determined to come together to complete this challenge.

Day 1
No progress yet. Ishimaru-kun is too busy dealing with Kuwata-kun sleeping in class. Oowada-kun is skipping class again. Will attempt to talk to Ishimaru-kun later!

Don't be stupid, that's a dumbass idea. He's gonna talk to Oowada about it! Leave it to me, I'll speak with Oowada when he gets back.

Kuwata-san, you're hopeless. I'm sending Hagakure-san with you.

Oh like that won't end in failure. Whatever, Maizono. We'll see what we can get outta him.

Day 2
The notebook was kept in Celes' possession all day. She seemed to be making some sort of chart, but any time anyone asked her about it, she would just giggle and put the book away. "Out of sight, out of mind!"

It was Yamada who finally got the information out of her. She seemed to find the tea satisfactory that day and let a bit of information slip, "I've been mapping out just how much time those two spend together. Oops, you didn't hear that, Yamada-san."

"Of course not, Celestia Ludenburg-dono!" He had exclaimed, taking her tea and scurrying away to inform the others.

The chart indicated that a good fifty percent of Ishimaru's time was spent with Oowada. That was far more than anyone had expected and everyone wondered how Celes had come across that information. Try as they might, they couldn't get an answer out of her.

Day 3
Asahina and Oogami had the book that day, keeping track of everything Ishimaru and Oowada said.

"Aniki! That's the fifth time you've been late for class this week alone! Am I going to have to put you in detention?"

Is that code for something? They do spend a lot of time together...

"Fuck off, you know I'll just skip it."

"And I'll be forced to report you to the teachers!"

I believe this is their way of showing that they care about one another.

That's so cute!

"Aniki, I mean it. Show up to class on time. You're going to start failing again!"

Again? He's not failing now?

They must be spending all their time studying.

Wow... how boring.

"...I'll think about it, alright?"

He's actually considering giving in! Aww, how sweet!

Day 4
Is Mukuru in on this? What about Enoshima?

They seem preoccupied with other things. Let's leave them out of this for the time being.

Yeah, we don't want this notebook falling into Ishimaru's hands on accident! Just imagine how hilarious that would be!

It wouldn't be hilarious at all! Ishimaru-san would throw us all in detention for gossiping!

Can that even get us in detention?

Do you want to find out, Fujisaki-san?

Fujisaki had the notebook when things started going wrong. There were people who would blame him for what happened, but ultimately Fujisaki was able to save the notebook from the incinerator.

"Eh, what's that you've got there, Fujisaki?"

"Ah, Oowada-kun!" Fujisaki had nearly jumped three feet in the air when he heard Oowada's voice. He had been replying to Celes' note when Oowada had spoken to him.

The gang leader had snatched the book away, holding it out of Fujisaki's reach while he flipped through it. "Gossiping about your classmates, Fujisaki?" He grinned. "Never thought you'd be the type."

"Please let me have it back, Oowada-kun! It's very important!"

Seeing that Fujisaki was on the verge of tears, Mondo handed it back without seeing what the challenge was. "Hey, sorry. I won't say anything about it, alright? Promise."

"Thank you, Oowada-kun." Fujisaki had said, gripping the book to his chest. He was quick to hand the book over to Maizono, claiming he wanted nothing more to do with their little challenge.

Day 5
Hagakure-san, did you get any information on Oowada-san's feelings toward Ishimaru-san?

I wish. He just said that they're brothers and threatened to punch me if I tried to give him another reading.

What a shame. Maybe someone else will be able to get the information out of him. Kuwata-san?

Tried it. He didn't bite for me either. Said he had things to do, classes to skip and all that. But I'm pretty sure he went to Ishimaru's room when he thought I wasn't looking.

Ooh, I wonder what that means?

They're probably just studying. Oowada-san's been falling behind and Ishimaru-san is one of the best students in the class.

C'mon, Fukawa, can't you at least pretend to be helpful? Who let you have the book anyway?

Fukawa frowned at Kuwata's response, picking up her pen to write just what she really felt for the baseball player.

"What are you doing?" Togami loomed over her desk, expression full of the usual displeasure he displayed whenever he talked to her.

"Aah, Byakuya-sama!" She yelped, slamming the notebook shut and dropping her pen. "Oh, forgive me, I'm not worthy to be in your presence. Leave, before my foul looks haunt your nightmares!"

Togami didn't seem to care too much about her theatrics, instead leaning down to pick up her pen. "If I were you, I wouldn't touch that book. Gossiping is a waste of time."

"Thank you, Byakuya-sama! I-I'll keep that in mind!"

Fukawa handed the book off to Kirigiri and said she wanted nothing more to do with it.

Day 6
It's the weekend and Ishimaru is leaving school grounds with Oowada-san. I will follow them to see if I can discover what they are doing.

Kirigiri was the best person for the job and she intended to prove once and for all that there was no way Ishimaru and Oowada were going to date. They were brothers, after all. No, they weren't bound by blood, but she saw no reason for that to stand in the way. Everyone in the class was going crazy over something she felt didn't matter any.

So she followed them and found herself at the movies.

They're going to the movies together. I will attempt to sneak in and see what they're doing.

Kirigiri easily managed to sneak in without them noticing. She managed to find a seat several rows behind them and studied them rather than the movie.

The movie - some kind of horror picture that Kirigiri wasn't interested in in the least - continued without incident for awhile before something that happened onscreen got Ishimaru to jump and instinctively clutch at Oowada's sleeve. He moved to take Ishimaru's hand in response, and the hall monitor looked relieved. Kirigiri made a mental note to write that down after the movie.

The rest of the movie went by without incident, though at one point Oowada attempted to rest his arm around Ishimaru's shoulders, only for Ishimaru to frown at him until he removed it. Kirigiri quickly departed the theater and jotted down her observations.

They appear to be very close. At one point during the movie they were holding hands. Oowada-kun attempted to rest his arm on Ishimaru's shoulders but was turned down.

Satisfied with her observations, Kirigiri closed the notebook and returned it to its hiding place in the bottom cubbord of the baths, hidden beneath the towels.

Day 7
The notebook was taken from its hiding place. No one saw it all day.

Day 8
Still no sign of the notebook. Perhaps Ishimaru had found it and gotten rid of it.

Day 9
The notebook reappeared, sitting on the front desk in the classroom. It was turned to a page near the back and a message was scrawled across the pages.

Hey morons,
Get a clue, we've been together since January.
Next time try fucking up less.
- Oowada

Day 10
A new challenge appeared in the book. Get Maizono-san and Kuwata-kun together. No one fell for Kuwata's attempt.
