Pairing(s): Kamui/Zagi
Word Count: 710
Summary: Zagi can't sit still.
Notes: ...How have I had nothing to post in here since 2014, what the hell. Also this thing sucks, I'm sorry.
The rain isn't acidic in this world. That's a good thing, but Kamui doesn't want to be out in it anyway. Zagi's not sure if it's because of the acidic rain from the world Kamui lived in for awhile or if it's for another reason. Regardless of the reason they've holed themselves up in an abandoned building far from the center of town. There isn't much they can do here but wait for the rain to pass and then they can pick up the search for Kamui's brother.
(Kamui has already gotten quiet and sullen; he doesn't think Subaru is in this world either. Zagi's finally learned how to read his moods without resorting to blunt questions.)
His thoughts are interrupted as Kamui drops his heavy, thick cloak on his head. Zagi makes a startled noise and pulls it down from his hair (which is probably a mess now, ugh) and looks up accusingly. "You're shivering." Kamui says simply. He's staring out at the rain and not looking at Zagi.
"Am not," Zagi replies quickly. He definitely was. This world's a little colder than he's used to and the metal of his left arm isn't helping any. "But I guess I'll hold onto this until you need it."
Kamui doesn't respond, but Zagi didn't really expect him to. The rain isn't letting up any and it looks like they'll be here for awhile. Zagi sighs loudly after only a minute of watching the rain and arranges the cloak around his shoulders. He only lasts for another two minutes before picking up a rock and throwing it at Kamui's shin. It's light enough to not hurt, but it catches the vampire's attention anyway.
"Sit with me," Zagi whines. Kamui joins him on the ground and Zagi pulls the cloak around both of them. If Kamui's surprised, he doesn't show it. "Better." Zagi says and leans against Kamui. His human arm winds around Kamui's left arm and he entwines their fingers before Kamui can protest. He wouldn't protest anyway, they both know that.
It settles Zagi for a little while longer. The rain still isn't interesting to watch and he's not sure how Kamui can entertain himself for so long by staring at it. Maybe if there was something of interest out there he'd get it, but all they can see are a few buildings and some grass and a street. It's deserted. There aren't any people or cars (cars are fascinating, Zagi could probably watch those all day) so he's left watching the way the rain forms puddles directly outside the building. It's not much, but watching the drops bounce off the concrete is the only thing that can keep his interest for even a moment.
Five minutes pass. He counts the last two out quietly. He'd be tempted to move around if it wasn't so comfortable sitting with Kamui. He doesn't want to move. Instead he pulls his and Kamui's hands up and studies the vampire's nails curiously. Kamui allows it without question. He doesn't even turn to look at what Zagi's doing.
That's no fun. If Kamui's so intent on being boring then Zagi will just have to entertain himself. He presses his lips to Kamui's nail, glancing up immediately to see the reaction. There isn't one. He makes a soft, irritated noise and tries again, moving from one finger to the next in the hopes of earning something from his boyfriend.
Kamui finally looks over at him, expression just as deadpan as always. "What are you doing?" It's barely a question, spoken in a voice to match the expression.
"Kissing you," Zagi says before leaning forward to do just that. He isn't sure if he expects Kamui to return it or not, but Kamui does and Zagi settles a bit. No one else can get him to calm down so easily.
It's not surprising that Kamui pulls back first and it's not surprising that his expression is still sort of blank-looking. It's not a frown though and Zagi counts that as a victory. "I really like you," Zagi blurts out without thinking.
"I know," Kamui replies evenly, "I really like you too."
Fifteen minutes later the rain has passed and Zagi's still grinning widely.
